Peace Week 18th-26th September 2010
This year our theme is " Creating a Culture of Peace"
We are going to be raising money for MAG www.maginternational.org MAG is an organisation based in Manchester which removes landmines from the world's conflict zones. Princess Diana supported their work. We felt that this year we wanted to do something practical. You can organise an event to raise money for MAG. There are lots of ideas on their website eg recycle old mobile phones or printer cartridges, fashion show, music event, bake pies or cakes to sell,hold a clothes swap evening, organise a jumble sale, healing evening,sponsored walk or silence. Get involved and help people return to their homes by clearing their villages of mines. Let us know what you are doing and we will put it on this website.
Gloucestershire Constabulary will be organising a Knife Arch Operation during Peace Week.
21st September World Peace Day. This year we are baking Pies for Peace. The idea is to share the pie with friends and neighbours. You can organise a community bring and share supper. Schools can sell slices of pie and raise money for MAG. We welcome your recipes, sweet and savory, gluten free. We will have a recipe section on this site. Get baking and come up with some great ideas for tasty treats.
