Peace2gether
Peace2gether is a community group formed in 2007 by members of Soka Gakkai International (SGI) living in Gloucestershire and North Wiltshire.SGI is a lay Buddhist organisation promoting peace, culture and education with 12 million members in 190 countries. Inspired by SGI’s president, Daisaku Ikeda, Peace2gether was formed to express these values in a practical way, bringing together people from differing backgrounds, religions and cultures, forming meaningful friendships and building hope for a peaceful world on a local level.Peace2gether’s stated aims are:
1. To foster hope for a peaceful world in the hearts of local people.
2. To create a platform for raising awareness of the positive, community building activities of organisations, groups and individuals.
3. To draw attention to the potential of ordinary people to achieve social
transformation through taking personal responsibility.
4. To promote the ideals of non-violent conflict resolution.
5. To develop understanding and common ground amongst local organisations working for peace while respecting and encouraging diversity.
